The Nuke grab is getting a lot of press these days. It can be a frustrating grab though. Some people get it right away. Others hate on it ’cause they just can’t grab it proper! I always thought throwing a nuke grab while upside down looks sick. So here is a how to for the Nuke Tantrum.
Key pointers
Step 1: Learn proper Tantrums. Square off to the wave/kicker right before the lip and stand tall. If you have drama with the Tantrum make sure to throw your head up at the sky and square up the board to the kicker.
Step 2: Have Nuke grabs on lock. Stretch before your session to grab Nuke. (Try Indy Tantrums first to feel how it is to grab during a Tantrum.)
Step 3: Suck your knees up to your chest to start rotation and grab Nuke.
Step 4:. Hold grab all through Tantrum.
Step 5: Spot landing and let go of grab.
Step 6: Stick landing.
Common mistakes: Wearing straps, kite too high and going too slow.
