2013 Airush Lithium Review

May 3, 2013

Author: SBC Kiteboard Test Team

Sizes available: 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, 14 m
Design features: 3-strut, 4-line, Delta SLE hybrid

The Lithium stepped up its game last year with some top rated reviews in the All-terrain Freeride category, and with some tweaks to its bridles and added tuning options, the 2013 model has a familiar plug-and-play character that epitomizes stability, direct feeling and easy boosting performance. This kite is easy to love and brings smiles to the faces of newbies and intermediates alike. It also offers plenty of high-end performance for the adventure-seeking freerider. The low-end power is smooth and easy to tame, with depower that comes on at arm’s length and delivers superb gust taming ability. The Lithium has optimum turning speed that’s not too quick but reactive and direct, with good positional feedback from the steering lines. Advanced-level surf specialists will appreciate this kite’s pivotal and smooth power delivery through the turns, and its well-balanced drift and stability that enables superb waveriding. The water relaunch is best in class, with the Delta shaped and pinched wing tips that enable the kite to pivot off the water with minimal wind effort or bar input. The Smart Bar control system has a few upgrades, including rubberized bar ends and close “Y” front line with single flagging ability for complete safety. The Lithium’s versatility, ease of use and adaptable high-end performance will ensure its popularity will continue in 2013.

- Not as aggressive as the high-performance freestyle
Can lose some canopy and shaping stability when aggressively pulling on the steering lines while overhead. Pump up super hard to limit this.

+ What the SBC Test Team raved about:
“Tons to love about the new Lithium. Feels even more responsive to bar input compared to last year.”
“It’s all there for the adventurous freerider, and a standout for the up-and-comer.”

Cool Tech Features
- New 3-strut platform
- V3 bridal system
- New Smart Bar
