The Cabrinha Switchblade has been legendary in the wakestyle category of performance, and in 2012, it increases its freeride performance with slightly more de-power and crisp handling reserved for the do-it-all designs. While it maintains its smooth power delivery, direct control and constant and controllable pull for the wakestyle rider, the increase in range will endear it to the freerider, as well. The new bridle configuration and canopy cloth enhancements combined to reduce weight, and gave the Switchblade lighter handling and a crisp, more direct feel over last year’s model. The Switchblade still parked and pulled like a truck, and remained a leader for testers who set it and threw down. It had a solid feel and sucked up the gusts well, turning wind power into useable board speed like no other. The kite’s turning speed was moderate and direct, with good power generation through the loops and soft landings. With proven water relaunch and forgiving unhooked pull, the Switchblade racked up awesome test scores, and was also admired for its pop and drift. The Switchblade entices advanced-level wakestyle riders and anyone who wants a freeride kite to boost big airs, pull smoothly in all situations.
Still just shy of the best for nimble steering If you’re looking for a nimble and fast-pivoting kite with more de-power, look to the Vector.
WHAT THE SBC TEST TEAM RIDERS ARE SAYING: “Park-and-ride at its best—better relaunch this year, too!” “I had the best booted-up, wakestyle session of the test with this kite. It pulls so smoothly and doesn’t overreact when you unhook.”
