Nineteen-year-old Kevin Langeree from the Netherlands is the best kiteboarder you’ve never heard of. He is coming off his second straight second-place overall finish on the PKRA tour and was only one heat away from becoming the 2007 world champion. We caught up with him recently to find out what he can’t possibly live without.

Iced tea
I drink that stuff every day and can’t live without it. The iced tea in Holland is still the best.

iPod
If I forgot my iPod on a trip, I would buy a new one at the airport or I would run back home and get it and go on the next fight. It would be so boring sitting on a plane without an iPod.

Driver’s licence
I got my driver’s licence a year and a half ago. Before that, I had to ask people if they could bring me to the beach, and that was so annoying. Now I’m much more free and I can go wherever I want.

Sweater
I hate to be cold, so I always make sure I bring a good sweater wherever I go. But I always try to go places where you don’t really need it.

Cellphone
It’s always good to call your friends to go out for a good session.

Flip-flops
I hate to wear closed shoes. I feel trapped in those things. That’s why I never forget my flip-flops when I go on a trip to a warm place.

MacBook
Because I travel a lot, it’s perfect to have all your computer stuff with you. And to check e-mails.

Skype
What a great program. If I’m on the other side of the world, I can call back home for a few cents.

Sunglasses
I wear those things every day and never leave the house without them. When I’m on the water I never wear them. But when I come back to the shore, the first thing I grab is my sunglasses. It’s really funny. When I’m on the water I really don’t need them, but when I get back to the beach my eyes start to get small and then I need my sunnies.

Airplane
Those things are great. It just sucks that it’s super bad for the environment. But you can travel all over the world in just a day. I can’t imagine sitting in a truck for a few months to get to South America. I really can’t sit still for that long, and sometimes it’s really hard for me to sit on a plane for a few hours.

Food
I always eat a lot. When I go on a trip, that’s what I spend the most money on. I always love to eat good food like sushi, pasta or a good piece of meat.

The beach
I always need to stay close to the beach. Every day I have to see the sea. If I’m on a trip, I see the beach every day, and then when I come back home, the first thing I do is check the beach. It’s super funny, but it never gets boring.
