Ben Wilson
Born: July 8, 1978
Ben Wilson, the 32 year old Australian kitesurfing legend, embarked on a new journey this year starting his own BWS brand. Ben is the undisputed king of media coverage with more magazine covers and video parts than any other rider. Most recently Jeep featured him in an ad riding the biggest wave ever kitesurfed on film. He has been nominated for the 2011 AWSI Kiteboarder of the year award.

LIVES: Coolum Beach, Sunshine coast, Australia SPONSORS: Dakine, Electric, Reef, Freestyle, NPX, FCS & 35th Parallel FAVOURITE DESTINATIONS: Home and Namotu Island Fiji OTHER INTERESTS: Surfing and Fishing Ben Wilson is a pioneer in the sport that is quickly becoming a global phenomenon – kitesurfing and when it comes to “kite-ing,” Ben is truly a renaissance man. While others are using kites and small wakeboard-style kiteboards on flat water, Wilson is using his kite as an engine to pull himself into increasingly outrageous surf on a conventional surfboard to ride waves like a surfer, he is not trying to compare kitesurfing to surfing, just show it as an extension. To top it off, Ben is the ultimate self-marketed athlete, making his own films, offering training clinics for advanced riders, acting as an advisor for his sponsors’ marketing and product development needs, as well as working on signature products for many of his sponsors. But what makes Ben an inspiration to all kiters is his passion for the sport, his undying desire to find the perfect wave and his ability to bring them all to the public eye.
