Sunset Swim: Best Year Yet!

Jun 24, 2013

Going into the 3rd year of the Sunset Swim Charity Fashion Show, anticipation for the event was running high. Over the past three years, the fashion show has brought a unique and interactive evening to the Triple S Invitational. While 7 days of parties can be exhilarating, we’re happy to present a night that involves more than just drinks and dancing.

The Sunset Swim is made possible by collaboration between Sensi Graves and the wonderful volunteers present in Waves, NC. REAL Watersports host the event and the rest is created and organized by Graves and her troupe of passionate women. Key volunteers that have helped the event grow are: Dominique Granger, Joanna Kowalska, Colleen Carroll, Lulu Vroman and Jessie Kilgour. All proceeds directly benefit the Hood River based charity, Athletes 4 Cancer.

Athletes 4 Cancer is a nationally- recognized non-profit dedicated to enriching lives impacted by cancer. The fashion show raises money specifically for Athletes 4 Cancer’s Camp Koru Survivorship Program which uses surfing, standup paddling, skiing & snowboarding as channels of growth and life-renewal after cancer has taken so much away. All the money raised directly benefits this program.

So far, Sunset Swim has raised over $17,000 for Athletes 4 Cancer. At the 2013 show, we had a record-breaking year of $7813.

The house was packed, with over 100 VIP tickets sold and standing room only. The evening was filled with beautiful girls, belly dancers, door prizes, raffle prizes, and impromptu live auctions. Both the Tona board winner and North Gambler winner gave their prize back to be auctioned off. Truly demonstrating the empathy and giving spirit of the people in attendance.

Thanks to the following for making this event possible: REAL Watersports, Watermen’s Bar & Grill, Blu Boutique, Ocean Atlantic Rentals, Sunset Salon, Big Hair Productions, Carolina Brewing Company, Dakine, Liquid Force, North Kiteboarding, Mesmerizing Arts, Hexagon Wake Park, Beats by Dre, Koru Village, Tribu and the many volunteers and models: Jamie Armstrong, Marissa Dodd, Chris Stuckey, Lindsey Cherpes, Jamie Dronyk, Heidi Buhm, Harmony Sheila, Victoria Dwyer, Becky Willard, Heather Kepski, Annie Carrier, Paula Rosales, Claire Lutz, Britney Penouilh, Audrey Fregeau, Jessica Perigny, Sarah Gons and Whitney Amaker.
