2013 Lord of the Wind - Day 2

"After day one, everybody had high hopes and expectations for the second chapter. They started by picking up where they left off with the slalom the afternoon before, which was not very far. They managed to complete every single heat of slalom for each division, except for the finals. For spectators, the slalom races were the most exciting because of the fast paced nature and proximity to the beach. After all of the slalom races concluded, the race committee decided they were done with the course racing all together. Instead, they moved onto the freestyle competition; another huge crowd-pleaser. The freestylers went through 3 elimination rounds, with the final heat consisting of the top four competitors from the original heats. The conditions were close to optimal; medium ranged wind with plenty of kickers to launch off from, making the final heat very fun to watch. After the wind died off, everybody went home to prepare for the bikini contest/dance party at hotel Palmas de Cortez. Although the bikini contest was cancelled, the dancing portion was pretty good. All in all, day two was a very successful part of the event, and by far the most interesting day to come and watch kiteboarding at it's best."—Dylan Murphy

Cape Hatteras local Evan Netsch goes big.

Dylan Murphy is a 15 year-old kiteboarder currently based out of Los Barriles, B.C.S. and the Gorge. He started getting his "first big rides" when he was about 12 years old. He rides the 2013 North Vegas and a 136 Gambler with Parks boots. He likes to compete from time to time, but mostly just enjoys going out and riding with friends!
