Kiteboarding returning to Surf Expo Trade Show

The Association of Wind and Water Sports Industries (AWSI) has partnered with Surf Expo (www.surfexpo.com) to host our annual trade show event for all manufacturers, distributors, and retailers in the Windsurf, Kiteboard, and SUP industries. This will be the only trade event scheduled for 2011, so participants can expect a very well attended show with a large selection of 2012 hardgoods and accessories.

AWSI President Doug Hopkins says that “We had two successful years of running our own trade event in Hood River Oregon, however our members voted and the consensus was to rejoin Surf Expo in Orlando, instead of producing the Hood River show. Their professional marketing draws a large group of buyers, and the timing is perfect (September 8-10, 2011). Surf Expo also offers discounted booth rates for board builders and board accessories manufacturers that will help make the show both affordable and effective.”

The “Wind” section will be adjacent to the SUP area, enabling good cross-over for exhibitors selling into both markets.

“We are very excited to have AWSI’s participation at the September show,” comments Roy Turner, Surf Expo show director, “and to have its endorsement as the wind industry’s official trade show. We are looking forward to a very successful partnership.”

AWSI will also host the annual industry party Friday night, September 9, 6-8PM. This will include the first annual AWSI Industry Awards, with refreshments and appetizers– so don’t miss it!

In response to member feedback regarding limited time and resources, AWSI will not host a windsurfing/kiteboarding demo in conjunction with Surf Expo as the association has done in the past. Instead all efforts will be focused on maximizing the impact at Surf Expo.
