2012 Nobile T5-Koinobori Review

Apr 11, 2012

Author: SBC Kiteboard

“A truck in the low-end. Good-turning, fast kite; good for the waves, and great relaunching, too."

Size tested: 12 m
Sizes available: 5, 7, 9, 10, 12, 14 m
Design style: 4-line, 3-strut SLE

The T5-Koinobori is Nobile’s advanced freeride kite with direct, responsive and forgiving handling, and incredible hang time capability. One of three kites in the Nobile range, the T5-Koinobori is framed with three struts and has improved low-end power and wind range with its revised aerodynamics, flattened wing tips and thinner bridle lines for 2012. The T5 racked up some of the top scores of  the group, and was admired for its direct steering and nimble control. Test Team riders were also impressed with the T5’s quick and easy water relaunch, as well as the height reached in jumps. As the only three-strut shapes of the group, the T5 showed excellent all-terrain ability, as tight pivotal turns and good de-power grant capable wave skills. The T5 has good feedback overhead, and with some trimming offers good unhooked pop and smooth drift with slackened lines. With all the traits of an all-terrain machine, this kite had advanced-level performance in a wide range of disciplines. It had the top-end performance sought after by advanced freestyle riders, and could handle its own in most conditions.

“A truck in the low-end. Good-turning, fast kite; good for the waves, and great relaunching, too. I couldn’t keep this good kite down!”
“Great pull through a big wind range. Really smooth feeling with solid park-and-ride performance. A kite many freeriders and advanced-level freestyle riders can enjoy.”
