Bridge of the Gods KIte Fest
14th Annual Bridge of the Gods Kite Fest
Kiteboarders from across the nation will converge on the Columbia River Gorge to compete in the nation's longest running amateur kiteboarding contest. "The Bridge of the Gods Kite Festival" has historically been a launching pad for amateur kiteboarders attempting to become professional's. The Amateur bracket-style contest features four categories of riders Mens Open, Womens Open, Masters and Juniors.
The Pro competition will feature Team Riders, Pro and Semi Pro, and Previous Winners competing against each other for cash prizes. Contestants will attempt to impress the judges with their freestyle maneuvers that will be judged on difficulty, style, height, variety, sportsmanship and overall impression. Local restaurants will host a food court and a beer garden will be hosted by the Stevenson Eagles Club which will be serving beer from Stevenson's own Gold Medal winning, Walking Man Brewery and food from Casa De Sabor. The steep riverbanks make the Port of Skamania's East Point Kite Beach a natural grandstand for viewing the event. Kiteboarding is an extreme sport that is equally exciting to watch as it is to perform.
So bring the kids and lawn chairs and enjoy the fun at The 2012 Bridge of the Gods Kite Festival.
