Wainman Hawaii’s Rabbit Gang 2.0 are a well-refined kite line from their original incarnation. The unique marketing style gives each size in the range its own cartoon-like persona. Distinctly characterized with their extremely low-aspect canopy shape, both the Smoke and the Boss provide great levels of added power and range. The compact bridles are well-designed and can be tuned to suit the preferred discipline or style of the day. Simple directions for bridle setting make changing your set easy. The low-aspect shape and three-strut open canopy gives these kites a playful yet provokingly aggressive nature in some settings. They are built tough and offer simple performance at all levels.
In the upwind mode, which gives the kite more instant depower, the Smoke delivers fast pivotal turns to position the kite well on the wave. In the set-it-and-forget-it freestyle mode, the kite can unhook and sit back in the window with good stability. The Carrot Stick bar is slick and streamlined with solid engineered safety systems. Relaunch is superbly easy, with the kite’s wide ball-like shape providing almost no resistance to back line pivoting of the water. Any-level rider can appreciate this out-of-the-box design that works well in waves and can be tuned to perform for any style, skill and discipline.
- Harder upwind in freestyle mode
The kite’s low aspect makes for a less slippery feeling upwind.
