Design Style: 4-line, 5-strut SLE-C hybrid
The Ozone C4 is a five-strut SLE with a dominant, flat, hybrid C-shape and wide wing tips for freestyle and wakestyle performance. The bridle setting allows this hybrid C to change where it sits in the window: deeper for wakestyle and more forward for freestyle, big boosting and more de-power. Test riders were very impressed with its smooth, parked power and ability to suck up the gusts. The wide wing tips gave it steady sweeping power generation through the turns like a true C should. Smooth unhooked power delivery and awesome pop with stable drift makes the C4 a top choice for aspiring wakestyle rippers. It unhooked and pulled as smoothly as any C kite we’d ever ridden, and testers who liked to unhook more often than not ranked it as the top of the group. The water relaunch was easy, and with no fifth line to worry about, it was done with a steering line pull. Ozone gets top marks for a kite design that incorporates all the elements hardcore wake- and freestyle-inspired riders are looking for. It could easily fit into the full-on C kite category if it didn’t have any bridles.
The bar lacks the polish and bling factor of the Cabrinha, North, Slingshot and Naish.
WHAT THE SBC TEST TEAM RIDERS ARE SAYING
“Really smooth power delivery—C-like feel. Great feedback.”
“A true C kite doesn’t have a completely bridled leading edge. But if you were to fly it with your eyes closed, it was still like a hybrid C: de-power, relaunch and wind range of a hybrid, but still lot of pull like a good C.”
